Bio-Synergy Whey Protein Review

Way back in 1997, whilst an undergraduate at King’s College London,  I joined the gym and started to lift weights.  Everyone at the gym, or friends and family, all suggested I needed to supplement my protein intake if I was to get stronger and maximise my gym effort. After you have eaten as many eggs, tins of tuna or chicken breast that you can, the easiest way to increase protein consumption was to drink whey protein milkshakes. At the time, I think there were two brands available tucked away in the corner of Holland and Barrett or Boots.

In the same year, Bio-Synergy was founded out of a passion for health and fitness and a desire to create the first clean, effective and high-quality range of sports nutrition.  Jump forward 20 years and I have tried numerous protein supplements with varying results. But what I have noticed over the years is the increase in the range of flavours available. I was no longer limited to Strawberry, Vanilla and Chocolate.

Benefits of Protein

Protein is important for building and repairing muscle fibres after exercise, proteins in the body have thousands of other essential roles, including: Producing antibodies for the immune system, Manufacturing hormones and enzymes that are involved in most reactions in your body, aiding in the digestion and absorption of food, maximising the transport of oxygen to tissues, providing structure for muscles, tendons, ligaments, organs, bones, hair, skin and all other tissues.


Bio-Synergy sent me a couple of their 1kg tubs of Whey Protein to try out. They mix up easily with no lumps and the smaller tub made it easier to find the scoop too. I love the Watermelon flavour. I always add ice to the milk when shaking so the watermelon flavour shake is chilled and tastes cool and creamy. I also added ice to the coffee flavour but I found this a bit too much if consumed after training. But first thing in the morning it tastes and looks much like iced coffee drinks and is great in the Summer.
